A note from the EUROCALL Executive Committee

Dear EUROCALL Community,

We hope this message finds you and yours as well as possible. We are writing because we feel a need to be in touch with you, if only virtually and to let you know that - at the moment - we are still hoping that EUROCALL 2020 in Copenhagen will go ahead.

Although Denmark is - like many other countries - in lockdown, the Copenhagen team are as spirited as ever and are carrying on with their preparations for the August conference. They have an amazing academic and social program for us. And a record number of submissions have been received for this year’s conference.

We will, of course, re-schedule the time frames for everything: early bird registration, 2020 elections, etc. Any changes to key dates will be posted on the 2020 Conference and EUROCALL websites. Please check these websites for updates.

At the same time, the Copenhagen team are starting to work on a plan B for the conference, should we still not be allowed and/or should we still be advised against moving around the world in August. Rest assured, all colleagues on the executive committee and the Copenhagen team will find the best solution that we can.

On a more personal note: I have always believed that it is in situations like now, that technology will do for us what we need most. Technology will help us stay connected and come together to share and support each other.

While we do not want to add to your overflowing mail boxes, we did feel a need to reach out to you and let you know that we wish that each and every one of you, and your families and friends stay safe and healthy and that, should you fall ill, you have a steady recovery.

In one way or another, I will say to you this year "I declare EUROCALL 2020 open!"

Mirjam (on behalf of the executive committee)
