WorldCALL Constitution

Draft WorldCALL Constitution (MS Word, 58kb)

Those of you who attended the WorldCALL 2003 conference in Banff may recall that a plenary meeting was held at the end of the conference to discuss the future of WorldCALL. It was decided at the meeting that WorldCALL should make efforts to set itself up as an official organisation along the lines of EUROCALL, CALICO and IALLT, which - among other things - would make it easier to organise future conferences and, above all, to attract funding. Graham Davies agreed to chair a committee, whose task would be to draft a constitution for WorldCALL and to present it to the public. The committee was set up, consisting of Graham Davies (Chair), Mike Levy, Peter Liddell, Sue Otto, Claire Bradin-Siskin and Vera Menezes. It was agreed that, first and foremost, WorldCALL - like EUROCALL and CALICO - needed to identify an administrative headquarters and an Executive Director. It is proposed that WorldCALL's headquarters will be located at Griffith University, Australia, and that Mike Levy will act as Executive Director. Once the constitution has been approved, elections can be held for WorldCALL officers, i.e. President, Vice-President and members of the Executive Committee. We have addressed these issues in the draft constitution. Feedback on the draft constitution is now welcomed. Please have a look at the draft and send your comments to Graham Davies, grahamdavies1@compuserve.com
