EUROCALL Letter to Community

Dear EUROCALL Community,

We are writing to inform you that very sadly the Copenhagen team have confirmed that they are unable to host EUROCALL 2020 or 2021. We would like to thank Karen-Margrete, Sanne and Patrick - for their incredibly hard work to date and look forward to them playing an integral role in our August EUROCALL Online Gathering.

The Gathering will take place on 20th and 21st August 2020 and will consist of online workshops, SIG events and poster awards and a virtual party. Plenaries will take place on both days.  Our first Plenary speaker is Professor Vincent Hendricks, University of Copenhagen and our Graham Davies Keynote by Professor John Gillespie, Ulster University will take place on Day two.

The registration fee will be EURO 65 which will also buy you an online membership for a year.  Registration will be free to those who have renewed or already purchased and annual membership. Please note the subscription rate of EURO 65 is open to everyone.

Posters will be displayed online during the gathering with opportunities to comment and vote.

There will also be an option for those of you who had abstracts accepted to record your presentation (15-minute time slots) and we will be making these available on a new EUROCALL You Tube channel. We will send those who would like assistance with the recordings a link to a sign-up sheet with time slots (someone will be present in an online room to help you record your talk at the date and time you have chosen). We will also send guidelines to all those who wish to prepare their own recording.

We cannot, however, offer the option of Q&A sessions linked to the recordings. If you share your details in your recording, interested colleagues will be able to get in touch with you directly.  The EUROCALL Executive will be in touch with those who have had abstracts accepted to allow them to register their interest in this process.

In accordance with the constitution, and given the current COVID crisis, the Executive has proposed that this year’s elections be postponed until next year. Any objections should be sent to the secretary by 25th June 2020.

Once again we would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Copenhagen team. They have worked tirelessly to organise 2020 and we are truly sorry that we will not be able to meet in Copenhagen but we look forward to our online gathering when we all connect virtually!

Stay safe and be well.

Mirjam (on behalf of the EUROCALL Executive Committee).
